Tina doesn’t fit into the neatly packaged, cute teen girl whose interests and budding sexuality are palatable to boys and adults. Nor is she mocked for being weird and awkward, which, let’s face it, most of us were/are/will be during puberty. She embraces her individuality and sensuality, both of which can be pretty strange at times – she writes erotic friend fiction and fantasizes about zombies after all – and in turn viewers embrace her too. Tina is who she is. She doesn’t apologize for it. She doesn’t hide it. She is perhaps the unsung hero of the show, but thankfully no longer the unsung hero of our hearts. We could all aim to be a little more like Tina.

Me when I’m forced to go anywhere.
If you treat an individual as he is, he will remain how he is. But if you treat him as if he were what he ought to be and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (via feellng)
